Last Night A DJ Saved My Bike

I love to provide music for group rides.

One of the benefits of having a front basket is the ability to carry a portable sound system that can easily connect to an iPod.

My friend Mike S. built this portable sound system out of PVC pipe, cooking pot lid, amplifier, speakers, and rechargeable batteries.

As you can tell by the video, I can turn up the volume fairly high. And below are photos of the sound system.

  2. Dude, that's awesome! Big props to Mike S. and to you for being the guy willing to haul that around!

  3. Wow, your friend is really inventive! How are you securing all of that to your bike? Doesn't it clang and rattle horribly while in motion or can you turn the speaker up loud enough to cover up all of that?

I tried a building block speaker, but it wasn't loud enough so I might try this.

  4. Nice setup! I love the picture of your handlebars with the "I love my bike" bell and the cup holder and the iPod! Talk about a picture being worth a thousand words--that one screams this bike is practical and loved!! Wish I had that sweet sound system for my rides!
